What is Made By Special?

Made By Special (MBS) is a catalog and connecting platform that brings together institutes, specially-abled individuals, independent artists, and buyers. We help showcase products and skills while enabling direct, transparent connections—without handling sales, payments, or logistics.

Is Made By Special an online shop or marketplace?

No. Made By Special is not a marketplace. We do not sell products, process payments, or manage orders. We only curate catalogs and enable direct connections.

Who runs Made By Special?

Made By Special is an initiative by Joy of Helping, created to promote self-reliance, dignity, and skill-based empowerment among specially-abled and marginalised communities.

Does Made By Special charge any commission or fees?

No. Made By Special does not charge commissions. Made By Special may charge a nominal onboarding fee, or change in catalog fee depending on the scope of work.

Does MBS guarantee sales or work?

No. Listing on MBS does not guarantee sales, orders, or workshop opportunities.

What are the terms and conditions?

Is MBS responsible for disputes?

No. All disputes are resolved directly between buyers, sellers, and artists.

Does MBS verify every transaction?

No. MBS does not monitor or verify transactions.

Is MBS responsible for quality or delivery?

No. Quality, packaging, delivery, and timelines are the seller’s responsibility.

For Buyers

How do I place an order?

Browse the catalogs, shortlist products, and contact the institute or artist directly using the details provided on their catalog page.

Who do I pay?

Payments are made directly to the institute or artist. Made By Special does not collect or process payments.

Who decides the price?

Prices are decided solely by the seller (institute or artist) based on your requirements.

Do I have to pay for shipping?

Yes. Shipping costs are borne by the buyer unless otherwise agreed with the seller.

Who handles packaging and delivery?

Packaging, dispatch, courier selection, and delivery are handled directly by the seller.

Will I get a shipping receipt or tracking number?

Yes. Sellers are required to share a shipping receipt or tracking details after dispatch.

What if the product arrives damaged or is not as expected?

Any issues related to damage, quality, or defects must be resolved directly with the seller. Made By Special does not intervene.

Are returns or refunds possible?

Return, refund, and exchange policies are decided by the seller. Buyers are advised to clarify these terms before placing an order, especially for custom or bulk orders.

What are these products suitable for?

Who can be listed as an institute?

NGOs, vocational training centres, and organisations working with specially-abled individuals or marginalised communities may apply.

How do we get onboarded?

You can apply through the Institute Onboarding Form available on the website. Our team reviews applications and responds within a defined timeline.

What information do we need to share?

You will need to share: Institute details, Product descriptions, High-resolution images, Contact details. Please find form here.

Who creates our catalog?

Made By Special Inhouse Staff creates and hosts your catalog based on the information you provide based on the nominal fee charged.

What is the onboarding and maintenance fee for?

The onboarding and maintenance fee, may be a nominal charge depending on your requirement of collaboration with out site, whether previously charged or charged recently. It covers creating your catalog, hosting your catalog, access to artist bank, access to seller resource page.

Can we update our catalog later?

Yes. Onboarded institutes and artists can request changes using the Catalog Update Request Form (passcode protected) up to three to four times a year.

Who handles pricing and payments?

The sellers independently decide pricing and receive payments directly from buyers.

Who is responsible for shipping and packaging?

The seller is fully responsible for packaging, shipping, quality control, and delivery.

Does MBS help with logistics or returns?

No. Returns, refunds, exchanges, and logistics are handled entirely by the institute.

Can we access the Artist Bank?

Yes. Onboarded institutes receive passcode-based access to the Artist Bank. The pass-code has been shared with you in the updation/Onboarding email with the poc of your institute.

Can we access the Seller Resource?

Yes. Onboarded institutes receive passcode-based access to the Seller Resource. The pass-code has been shared with you in the updation/Onboarding email with the poc of your institute.

Who qualifies as an independent artist?

Specially-abled individuals or artists from marginalised communities creating products or offering skills independently.

How can I get listed as an independent artist?

Apply through the Artist Onboarding Form available on the website.

Can I/we sell products through MBS?

MBS showcases your catalog and enables buyers to contact you directly. All sales happen independently.

Can I refuse an order?

Yes. You may choose to accept or decline inquiries based on feasibility and capacity.

How do we reach out to a trainer artist?

You can contact trainer artists directly using the details provided in the Artist Bank.

What details should we share with the trainer rtist when sending an inquiry??

You should clearly mention: -Reference to Made By Special, Purpose of the workshop, Number of participants, Location, Duration, Online or offline format

Who pays the trainer artist?

The hiring institute or artist pays the trainer directly as per agreed terms.

Who manages travel and logistics?

Travel, accommodation, food, and logistics are handled by the hiring party unless agreed otherwise.

What if a workshop is cancelled?

Cancellations and compensation must be handled directly between the parties.

For Artists (Training, Artist Bank)

What is the Artist Bank?

The Artist Bank is a curated directory of experienced artists available to conduct workshops and vocational training.

Why am I listed in the Artist Bank?

You may be listed because: A well-wisher recommended your work, or You applied through an outreach initiative

Who will contact me?

Institutes, organisations, or artists seeking skill training may contact you directly.

Does MBS assign workshops?

No. MBS does not assign or manage workshops anymore.

How should I respond to inquiries?

You should respond with a clear quote covering: Fees, Material cost per participant, Travel, accommodation, and food (if applicable)

Who executes the workshop?

The trainer artist and the hiring party execute the workshop independently.

How does the trainer get paid?

The trainer and the student mutually decide agreemenet terms. MBS will have no involvement in this.

How do I decide the syllabus?

The goal is to teach the beneficieries something that is easy to create, provides value, and is easily sellable. As long as you are equipping them with the knowledge of creating this product from scratch to finishing touches, you decide the syllabus and have complete control over how you would like to conduct the class.

Access and Passcodes

Why is some content passcode protected?

Certain sections (like the Artist Bank and catalog update forms) are restricted to maintain trust, privacy, and ethical use.

What if I forget my passcode?

Chek you poc Email Inbox from ops@madebyspecial.com If you still cannot find the passcodes, Please write to the above email id.

Can passcodes be shared?

No. Passcodes are issued individually to each artist/organization and should not be shared.

Media and Brand

Can we use the Made By Special logo?

Yes, with permission. Please request the MBS Media Kit through the Media Kit Request Form.

Can we say we are “partnered” with MBS?

You may state that you are listed on Made By Special. The name should not be used to imply endorsement or guarantee.
